2019 GRID Ranking Week 1
The first Sunday of April means one thing, the first Global Racing Index Database (GRID) Ranking is released, and we have a very close battle for the lead.
A historic moment today for GRID Ranking, Virgin Australia Supercars, and Scott McLaughlin, the leader of the GRID Ranking Week 1. McLaughlin becomes the first Supercars racer to lead the GRID Ranking with 24.14 points.
However, NASCAR racer Kyle Busch is only .38 behind McLaughlin for the top spot of the GRID Ranking. This is the smallest gap between first and second place in the opening weekend of the GRID. The largest gap between the top two in the first week of the GRID Ranking was 14.28 points between Sebastien Bourdais and Simon Pagenaud in 2017.
Next week, all series, except World Rally Championship, will be racing. So, week two of the GRID Ranking could see some big shakeups throughout the field.
